Boston - MEFA's college financing specialists will present financial aid basics at CollegeWeekLive, a virtual college fair on Oct. 15th at www.collegeweeklive.com. This is the first on-line seminar for MEFA, which annually conducts more than 350 free, informational meetings for parents and students at Massachusetts high schools.
“MEFA has hundreds of seminars every year across Massachusetts, and we're excited to participate in this virtual college fair as another great way for us to reach parents and students with the information they need to pay for college,” said Thomas Graf, Executive Director of MEFA. “One of our primary goals is to educate parents and students about the various options and strategies for paying for college, so if they can't visit us in person, they can visit us online.”
At CollegeWeekLive, MEFA will:
Present a live, 45-minute video seminar, with a question-and-answer session, for parents and students on how to finance a college education.
Answer questions during a three-hour chat starting at 4 p.m. Questions can cover a variety of topics, including paying for college, applying for financial aid, and the college application process.
Host a booth at the virtual college fair where visitors can download important information about college financing.
Presenting at CollegeWeekLive helps MEFA extend its educational outreach to Massachusetts parents and high school students. MEFA annually reaches more than 40,000 people through its free, public seminars held at schools statewide. To find a seminar, visit www.mefa.org/seminar

MEFA is a not-for-profit self-financing state authority, not reliant on state or federal appropriation, that works to make higher education more accessible and affordable for students and families in Massachusetts. Nearly 30 years ago, MEFA was created by the state legislature at the request of Massachusetts colleges and universities. MEFA provides community education programs, college savings plans, and low-cost financing options. In its nearly thirty year history, MEFA has issued approximately $3.8 billion in bonds and has assisted hundreds of thousands of families in financing a college education.
