MEFA’s free college and career planning portal, MEFA Pathway, can facilitate the discovery of countless careers and set students on a clear path for success. Students may not have a clear idea as to what career path to pursue, but all students have interests, values, talents, and particular skills that develop as they grow. Students often just need help connecting those developments with a career interest. MEFA Pathway is the perfect place to start. Here are the steps students can follow to begin taking advantage of MEFA Pathway’s career features.

Step 2: Complete the Assessments
There are three fun and engaging assessments that you can take to discover your interests, values, and skills. Once completed, you can explore career categories that align with your results.
In the Self-Discovery tab, you can find three assessments focused on interests, work values, skills. Each assessment consists of less than 35 questions.
Responses from the questions in the assessments reveal your top three areas within the categories and each includes a list of careers that match within that area. Compare the list of careers generated with all three assessments. Are there careers that appear on all three lists? This may be a great indicator to explore those careers further!
Save your results to compare with future results when you re-take the assessments. These are viewable on My Digital Portfolio.
In addition to filtering and exploring potential careers based on your assessment results, you can also use the feedback to populate your MEFA Pathway profile and build a resume.
Step 3: Discover Career Paths
In the Discover Careers tab, you can choose to conduct a Career Search. Use the left-hand sidebar to narrow your search by career categories and different interests, values, and skills. You can choose to prepopulate these last three filters based on your assessment results.
A key benefit that MEFA Pathway offers is the ability to filter the career search by education level, including a high school diploma or GED, vocational training or a 2-year degree, a 4-year degree, or a master’s degree or doctorate. Use the tabs at the top to filter by education.
Click on any career in your results list to learn more about, including the required education, projected growth, daily tasks, common work activities, and median wages. To save a potential career to My Careers, click on the SAVE button on the career page.
If you decide to focus on a specific career, then you can design an academic plan in high school that provides education and training to go into that specified field.
